about
Launched on December 1 2006, altvoices is an
international online magazine that features the work of correspondents
from around the world.
The website operates as a loose co-operative
of like-minded people whose sole focus is telling the
stories that the mainstream media neglect or under-report.
The emphasis is on analysis and intelligent
reporting.
altvoices
is non-profit making. There is no subscription charge and
no advertising. The journalists and editors work
voluntarily.
Currently, there are 31
altvoices correspondents. These include writers,
photographers, cartoonists, film-makers and artists who are
based in 19 different countries. Seventeen nationalities are
represented and the correspondents collectively speak 28 languages.
The content of altvoices is decided by the
editorial
team. At present, we have seven editors who are responsible
for recruiting new correspondents in specific regions.
Our goal is to have at
least one correspondent in every country of the world, so if
you'd like to contribute to altvoices, please contact
your regional editor (below.)
If your region does not yet
have an editor, please contact the altvoices
webmaster.
